a presentation by Mike Bias
George Grant TU has invited Mike Bias to it’s monthly Board of Director’s Meeting to give a presentation about his many years of studying the aquatic community of the Big Hole River. Mike has created a baseline study and has documented changes in the aquatic community over time. With the knowledge of what bugs are in the river and the timing of their presence through the seasons of a year any angler will be better informed and, hopefully, more successful.
Michael A. Bias, Ph.D., whose current professional work centers on stream restoration, enhancement, ecology and aquatic entomology, will be giving a presentation on aquatic insects as indicators of the health of the Big Hole River.
Mike has several published papers in various scientific journals and has authored over 30 scientific presentations on wetland restoration ecology, wildlife population and habitat ecology, and aquatic entomology.
Mike has been guiding since 1997. He is currently the entomology instructor for the Western Rivers Guide School out of Victor, Idaho and was director and instructor at the Hyde Outfitter Guide School for nearly 10 years.
- Mike makes his home in Twin Bridges, MT.
- Mike earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley during 1994 in Wildland Resource Science, specializing in population and habitat ecology.
- Mike’s presentation is on Monday, February 8th at 7pm on the second floor of the Butte Local Development Center, 305 W Mercury St, Butte.
