Join us for an Interesting Presentation on Silver Bow Creek
You’re invited to our next Board of Directors Meeting on Monday, December 14th 2015 at the Butte Local Development Center, 305 W Mercury. Meeting starts at 6:30 with a short business meeting followed by a very interesting update on the cleanup and restoration of Silver Bow Creek. The presentation will be given by:
◾Pat Cunneen, MT Dept of Justice, Environmental Science Specialist
◾Casey Hackathorn, Trout Unlimited Upper Clark Fork Coordinator
◾Joe Griffen, DEQ Project Manager, Butte Priority Soils (Retired)
GGTU has committed to working towards a proper cleanup and restoration of Silver Bow Creek and the Upper Clark Fork. This will be an update on the latest developments.
Although it may appear that this is all about the little stream that flows through Butte, the bigger picture is that this is the water that affects everyone downstream. It’s important to Deer Lodge, and has a huge impact on Missoula. Missoula’s done a great job of removing the Milltown Dam with cleanup and restoration, but if we don’t get Silver Bow Creek right in perpetuity, it will adversely affect everyone downstream. In this situation, what happens in Butte does not necessarily stay in Butte.
Hope you can make it to the meeting on Monday evening. It’ll be very informative and interesting.
